Drainage works in the Northwest sector of Valencia

Macro trap to prevent flooding

Development of the work

The action includes the execution of two trap branches:

Burjassot trap.

With a box section with free internal dimensions of 3,75 x 3,50 metres along the entire length of the collector, except for the section under the train tracks where a circular pipe is driven, and the final section where it drains into the storage tanks.

The construction of two concrete tanks in situ at the end of the collector for the storage of extreme rain flows is also planned:

  • Tank 1 has a floor area of 3.188 m2 and an interior free height of 4,30 metres.
  • Tank 2 has a floor area of 5.322 m2 and an interior free height of 6,20 metres.

On site the trap section is modified by a circular trap with a telescopic design, made of rigid PVC reinforced with steel. At the intersection with the FGV tracks, reinforced concrete piping will be installed. The total length of the collector is 1.798,28 meters.

The dimensions of the tanks will be reduced and the structure will be made of prefabricated concrete elements.

Paterna’s trap.

The projected trap section is a box section with free internal dimensions of 2,75 x 2,75 metres along the entire route of the trap except for the final section where it drains into the Endolça ravine passing under the CV-31 road.

It is also planned to reprofile and channel a part of the Barranco d’Endolça where the trap drains, changing the roughness of the drainage section to facilitate the evacuation of the flow that reaches it in this section. The channeled section of the ravine is 461 metres long.

On site, the collector section is modified by a circular collector with a diameter of 2.500 mm, made of rigid PVC reinforced with steel. The total length of the collector is 1.247,84 meters.
