			Preventing pollution from ships		
				Development of the work
The port service for the reception of ship-generated waste consists of the collection of ship-generated waste and, where appropriate, the storage, sorting and pre-treatment of such waste in the service area of the port and its transfer to a treatment facility authorized by the competent administration.
Ship-generated liquid waste, including sewage and residues from cargo, produced by the ship and covered by Annexes I and IV (liquids) and V (solids) of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships, 1973, as modified by the Protocol of, in its up-to-date version (MARPOL 73/78).
In the current treatment plant of Algeciras, Arin is in charge of planning the extension of the facilities that include:
- Sludge reception tanks
 - Water and sludge treatment plant. Filtration equipment
 - Compressor room
 - Boiler room
 - Changing rooms floor, warehouse and workshop
